Statement from Andrew Rosindell M.P., on the Government's decision to U-turn on Winter Fuel Payment cuts:
The decision to cut the Winter Fuel Payment was a woeful capitulation by the government - a calamitous mistake that should never have been made in the first place! This policy has caused immense and unnecessary stress for hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of pensioners across the country.
At a time when the cost of living continues to rise and many elderly citizens are already struggling to heat their homes, the removal of this vital support was not only short-sighted but deeply unjust. I have consistently opposed this measure and will continue to stand up for the rights and dignity of our pensioners.
The government must now act swiftly to restore full eligibility and ensure that no pensioner is left in the cold due to bureaucratic misjudgment.
