Havering in Peril under Labour
"It has been a very busy start to 2025 in Westminster! Things are not going well with Labour in power. Our country is facing economic ruin at the hands of Rachel Reeves, as our taxes go up, borrowing increases and the economy stagnates. David Lammy humiliates our country by handing over the strategically vital Chagos Islands to Mauritius, along with billions of pounds of British taxpayers’ money. Crime in London is out of control, now spreading into areas like Havering, but the Mayor of London, ‘Sir Sadiq’ refuses to give us our fair share of Policing. We pay for a service we are barely receiving, whilst inner London get all the Police they need. Havering Council, where Labour hold the balance of power, is now closing local libraires, including Gidea Park, a policy adopted by Labour when they were last in control of our Town Hall. The views of local people have been ignored once again. Immigration continues to rise at an unsustainable and alarming rate, with the population predicted to be over 72 million by 2032, which represents half a million new people coming into Britain each year. I asked the Prime Minister in the House of Commons recently about this, stating that there was no political mandate for such a large increase in the population, but socialist Starmer refuses to take radical action needed to curtail this calamitous rise in our population. Britain is being seriously harmed by Labour in power. We need to fight back against the shear craziness of their woke, extreme net zero, ideological fantasies! I really do fear for the future of Havering. Angela Rayner is now scrapping Essex County Council and all the local district councils. She wants to impose an elected Mayor on Essex, replacing all the traditional councils such as Brentwood, Epping, Basildon and Thurrock with huge local authorities, encompassing vast areas. Havering could be next on Angela Rayner’s hit list! You can well imagine Labour wanting to merge Havering with boroughs to the east of London. We would then live in a one-party municipal state, with the socialists having complete control over us on a permanent basis. As Romford’s M.P., if they try to do this, I will fight them all the way! I don’t believe in political Mayors, but I am sure Romford would be a happier place if we were able free ourselves of the Mayor of London and return to our Essex routes.
