Statement by Andrew Rosindell M.P.
Chairman of the Switzerland and Liechtenstein All-Party Parliamentary Group
I am deeply shocked and profoundly saddened by the horrific fire at Le Constellation in Crans-Montana, Switzerland in the early hours of New Year’s Day. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims of this devastating tragedy and their families, many of whom have lost loved ones or are facing life-changing injuries in hospital.
This tragic incident occurred during what should have been a time of celebration and has claimed around 40 lives and left more than 100 people injured, with many in serious condition. The scale of the suffering is immense, and our hearts go out to all those affected.
On behalf of the Switzerland and Liechtenstein APPG, I extend our deepest condolences to the people of Switzerland and to all the families and communities grieving this enormous loss.
May those who lost their lives rest in peace, and may those injured recover swiftly. The United Kingdom shares in the profound sorrow felt across Switzerland at this unimaginably painful moment.
