Havering-atte-Bower in my constituency is an historic village right at the top of Romford
Andrew Rosindell M.P., House of Commons, Concessionary Bus Travel Bill [Lords] 14th May 2007
Havering-atte-Bower Ward centres the village of Havering-atte-Bower in the far north of the London Borough of Havering, as well as Chase Cross and half of Collier Row. Historically, it was part of the Royal Liberty of Havering and housed various palaces, including Havering Palace and Pyrgo Palace. The village of Havering-atte-Bower's name, of Saxon origin, signifies a settlement linked to a man named Hæfer. Its history dates back to Saxon times, and Edward the Confessor's association with the area is notable. The Royal Liberty of Havering, encompassing Havering-atte-Bower, existed from 1465 to 1892.
King Edward The Confessor is the first notable person to have had a known connection with Romford, occupying the Royal Palace at Havering-atte-Bower, a picturesque village steeped in history situated at the most northerly tip of my constituency. High above the town of Romford, Havering-atte-Bower overlooks Essex to the east, the River Thames and Kent to the South and Dagenham and London to the South West.
